Snap! Tokyo and London

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

The last few times I’ve been to Tokyo, I keep noticing things that seem very similar. This afternoon, I was walking around Wimbledon in London, and I spotted a detail on the side of the public library that I’d not noticed before. I was struck by the visual similarity to a photo I’d taken in Tokyo a few weeks ago.

Tokyo Prayer Cards Close Up

In Wimbledon, the brick and tile detail are so apt for a Library, and in Tokyo, I was intrigued by what I understand to be prayer cards. Here’s both objects in context:

Thank you London Gay Men’s Chorus

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

Last night was their sold out show at the Barbican. It was just the thing to get into the Christmas mood. As ever, there was quite a varied repetoire, and the sight of all those men going through the choreography is impressive! It was also nice to have a compere (Sandi Toksvig) who didn’t have to apologise for not being gay herself! They mentioned their summer show - Bad Boys - and I see that it will be around the time of my birthday next year. Excellent!

Christmas Tree

This weekend seemed to mark the start of the Christmas feeling for me, even if the celebrations had started a few weeks ago. Merry Christmas all!

Titans win again

Sunday, December 10th, 2006

Today the London Titans beat the London Falcons 4-3, the first time I’ve seen them win. However, they are on a bit of a roll, and this marks their third victory in a row. Nice one!

Tokyo

My travels bring me to Tokyo this week

Narita Express Station

It’s a city I always enjoy visiting. The food is good, and the buzz reminds me of London. For the first time I actually did some sightseeing today!
