Pictures of the Year - 2002

Paris, February

When one of my friends told the group she'd got a flat in Paris, we all naturally invited ourselves to stay. Danielle & Richard gamely hosted us for a weekend, touring the museums: Musée d'Orsay (an old railway station) and the Louvre, although we didn't go in, so I've not seen the Mona Lisa yet!

Round the World, March

The day after returning from Paris (or thereabouts!) I started a four week round-the-world tour. I've not got all the photos online (yet!), but the itinerary included Hong Kong, San Francisco, New Zealand and Sydney.

San Francisco

In San Francisco I paid my first ever visit to the castro (the irony of that is not lost on me!) , where I spent a couple of days checking out the cafes and bookstores. As always in San Francisco, I stopped for a look at the Golden Gate Bridge.

Gliding at Gransden, April

Here's a token airplane photo - this one has my Dad at the controls (well probably not during launch - it was his first time in a glider) .

Atlanta, June

Just for once, a business trip co-incided with something I was happy to do as well - Gay Pride week in Atlanta. I spent the days in meetings, and the evenings sampling the atmosphere at the free festival that ran much of the week. Over the weekend was the pride parade itself - a really great sight was the giant Rainbow Flag , lead out by the Stars & Stripes (which are everywhere in America, post 9/11).

Gay Pride / Mardi Gras, London, August

In August it was time for London's own pride parade, and a party in Hackney Marshes to follow (great idea...). Here's london's flag: , and here is the bus from OUTInTheUK , which is a website I use a lot. One of the photos of me elsewhere on this site was taken at the same time.
