Choosing a Phone

Here the choices are again much wider than in the US. Data capable models from Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens and Motorola are available - making my now trusty I888 look rather staid. Features I wanted:

• IRDA 'Data Modem' - full data support built into the phone.
• IRDA 'Fax Modem' - fax support as well.

My choice was for the Nokia 7110, largely because of the features that it has over and above those I wanted. WAP, a large screen and predictive text input were all appealing. Of these, WAP is the least impressive, but perhaps that will improve as more WAP sites come online.
